17th Middle East Corrosion Conference and Exhibition to kick off tomorrow

Manama, Sept. 29 (BNA): The 17thedition of the Middle East Corrosion Conference and Exhibition starts tomorrow, Sunday, September 20 2018, at 7pm, which is hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil. It will take place in Bahrain’s International Exhibition & Convention Centre, and sponsored by Saudi Aramco, Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and a number of national oil and industrial companies in the GCC countries and around the world.
The opening ceremony will be marked by a broad numerical participation of the executive heads and officials of the region's national oil companies and a large number of engineers and specialists in the field of corrosion, chemical water treatment, researchers and scholars, as well as a large number of representatives of local, regional and global companies. It will be organized by Saudi Arabia National Association of Corrosion Engineers, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers of West Asia and the Africa region and the Bahrain Society of Engineers in cooperation and coordination with the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA).
H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, welcomed the guests and wished them a pleasant stay in the Kingdom of Bahrain. H.E. expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the distinguished government for their continued keenness in providing the highest level of support and assistance to NOGA, for its great efforts in attracting regional and international events that contribute to the strengthening of the national economy and support for the sustainable development that the Kingdom of Bahrain is witnessing in the glorious era of His Majesty the Beloved King of the country.
H.E. theThe minister also expressed his great pleasure in embracing the 17th edition of the Corrosion Conference series, which has been expanding steadily since its establishment to become one of the world's leading conferences and exhibitions in the field of corrosion management.That has proved over the past years as a platform constantly evolving to provide opportunities for industry leaders, corrosion engineers, manufacturers, service providers and interested workers in all areas of prevention and control of corrosion in the oil, gas, energy and other related industries throughout the world. Aiming to exchange best practices, expanding the work network and the presentation of products and services in the Middle East. H.E. noted the high risk posed by this phenomenon to the economic expenses in the Middle East countries, which cost billions of dollars, which can be avoided through applying modern technology, including corrosion-resistant materials as well as applying corrosion prevention practices.
The various worksheets will focus on a series of topics related to corrosion by global speakers, executives, senior officials of oil companies and other companies, including Dr. Dietlinde Jakobi, head of research and development services at Schmidt and Clemens, and Dr. Gerhardus Koch, senior principal engineer at DNV GL and Dr. KhalifaEsaklul, corrosion chemicals and material advisor at Occidental Oil and Gas Corporation. The technical papers will also include non-metallic in oil and gas, non-metallic in civil structures, performance materials, corrosion in refining, petrochemicals and chemical industries, microbial effect of corrosion, protective material, cathodic protection, safety of pipelines, corrosion research, prediction and simulation, inspection, corrosion control and many other related topics.In addition, 6 specialized workshops for the first time on the topic of women (women in industry), as well as many specialized programs for the teenagers have been allocated.
The accompanying exhibition will involve 65 major international oil companies specializing in the field of corrosion from 19 countries across the world who will showcase the latest technology in this field. Among the participating countries in the exhibition is the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Australia and many more.
