Astana, October 08, 2009 (Khabar) - Tourism and the global economy, facilitation of traveling, technical cooperation and development of “Silk Road” project – these are the issues that were discussed on forum during this week.
The main theme is the impact of global financial crisis on tourism sector. Last year the decrease in this sphere was about 7 per cent. There was more than 80 billion dollars shortage. However the specialists say that the situation has been stabilized and the growth can be observed again. One of the important results of the session is the presentation of “Road map” tourism reconstruction program. UNWTO appeals to increase the support of tourism in this program. The projects of several resolutions were approved, particularly states are offered to simplificate visa regimes and decrease taxes in tourism industry. The next 19th session of UNWTO will take place in South Korea.

Taleb Rifai, Deputy Secretary-General, UNWTO:
- This forum showed non-indifference of government of different countries representatives to the tourism development problems. We hope that after coming home state officials will implement the recommendations that were proposed by the Assembly in “Road map”.
