2 Schools in Ranong start teaching Myanmar language

RANONG, THAILAND, August 11 (TNA) - Two schools in the Thai border district of Kra Buri have started teaching Myanmar language to their pupils in preparation for the implementation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) which will become materialised in 2015. Sanit Isaro, director of Baan Haad Jik School in Pak Chan village of Kra Buri district, said his school and another school, also in Kra Buri, have been selected and supported by the Office of the Basic Education Commission, to be piloted in teaching Myanmar language to their pupils from the kindergarten to primary class six. It is believed that understanding of Myanmar language would help strengthen cooperation between the two neighbouring countries after AEC is implemented. The cooperation would extend to boosting trade and investment between the two nations. (TNA)
