22 Malaysian Armed Forces Officers Receive Award for Services in 'OPS Yaman'

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- Twenty-two Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) officers received certificates and medals from the government of Saudi Arabia for their services during the Yemen operation, dubbed as 'Ops Yaman', which was executed since May 2015.
According to the ATM headquarters, the medals were awarded as a token of appreciation for their services during the mission involving the evacuation of Malaysians from Yemen using a Royal Malaysian Air Force aircraft.
"Until now, the operation (Ops Yaman) is still being carried out to transport Malaysians who are in Yemen,” said the statement issued during a dinner function held in conjunction with a courtesy visit from Saudi Arabia Armed Forces commander Gen Abdaul Rahman Saleh Al-Banyan to Malaysia here Thursday night.
The medals and certificates were presented to the recipients by Abdaul Rahman and witnessed by Deputy Defence Minister Johari Baharum and ATM commander, Gen Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor.
Also present were Malaysian Army chief General Zulkiple Kassim, Royal Malaysian Navy chief Admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin and Royal Malaysian Air Force chief General Affendi Buang.
Raja Mohamed Affandi, when met by reporters, said he greatly valued his Saudi Arabian colleagues’ visit which reflected excellent military collaboration between the two countries. (photoBERNAMA)
