29 Provinces In Thailand Affected By Flood

BANGKOK, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- More than 326,000 households in 29 provinces, mostly in the northeast and the central regions, are still affected by floods – and heavy rain is expected in the northeast, east and central provinces starting today. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported a total of 326,811 households in 6,310 villages affected by floods following heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers. “Water levels in some northeast and central provinces are expected to rise,” it said in a statement. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said tropical storm Sonca, which is expected to make landfall over central Vietnam tomorrow, would bring more rain in the northeast, east and central provinces – including Bangkok and its vicinities – today and tomorrow. “People should beware of the severe condition that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the foothills near waterways and lowlands,” it said. -- BERNAMA
