3rd SEAMEO Annual Forum held in Thailand
BANGKOK, Febraury 12 (TNA) - Thailand’s Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), under the Education Ministry, is organizing the 3rd Annual Forum for High Officials of Basic Education of SEAMEO Member Countries and Associate Members in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok on Tuesday morning, aimed to serve as a platform for regional officials concerned to exchange knowledge and experiences on basic education.
The three-day regional forum, scheduled for February 12-14, was inaugurated by OBEC Secretary-General Dr. Chinnapat Bhumirat and was attended by high ranking officials of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) and its associate partners from 15 member countries.
This year's forum, themed “Quality and Equity Education for Sustainable Future: Building Capacity for Every Learner”, is the third of its kind for SEAMEO and its associate members, with the first and the second forums held in Malaysia and Vietnam respectively.
The forum is also aimed to work out best measures to provide equal and sustainable education for students in regional cities and rural areas alike of all member countries and to draw out plans for regional education personnel development and to brainstorm solutions to problems on basic education faced by each member country.
During the 3-day forum, which also includes various presentations and lectures from national and international academics and relevant agencies, the participants, as well, attend the 62nd OBEC Educational Excellency Fair: Supremacy with Grace and Wisdom, which exhibits Thai students’ talented and intelligent works and shows how Thailand has progressively improved on the national basic education system.
