400 To Join WCIT 2016

KUALA KANGSAR (Perak, Malaysia), Sept 30 (Bernama) -- Four hundred local and overseas participants are expected to join the World Conference of Islamic Thoughts and Civilization (WCIT) 2016 that will be held in Ipoh, the capital city of Malaysia's Perak state, next month. The three-day programme which begins on Oct 18 is organised by Malaysian private university, Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) and is expected to be launched by the Ruler of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah. WCIT secretariat chief, Mohd Hussin Abdullah said the conference themed 'Future World' will hold presentations of working papers and several related forums. "Among the presenters include former ASEAN Secretary General Dr Surin Pitsuwan and United Kingdom broadcast journalist, Lauren Booth. "Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is also expected to give a special presentation entitled 'The Younger Generation and Leadership'," he said in a media conference, here Thursday. Mohd Hussin said WCIT 2016 aims to discuss approaches and holistic development plans in Islam.
