60 Myanmar communities in Thai South participate in Earth Hour 2013

RANONG, March 23 (TNA) - Myanmar communities in the southern Ranong province are participating to help Thailand and the world save energy in 60+ Earth Hour 2013. Ranong Governor Cherdsak Champatet said 60 Myanmar labour communities in the province had agreed to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour from 1 p.m-2 p.m. local time on Saturday. Cherdsak said he had also instructed local agencies to economise in their use of electricity. The 60+ Earth Hour 2013 will also be observed in Bangkok. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has urged residents in the Thai capital to switch off the lights from 8.30 p.m.-9.30 p.m.. Earth Hour is an annually event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), a global conservation group. It is observed by millions of people across the globe -- who want to help the earth save energy in a hope to reduce global warming. (TNA)
