7th General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity Concludes

Doha, March 22 (QNA) - The 7th General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity wrapped up Tuesday three days of panel discussions and workshops, issuing a host of recommendations concerning technical and energy-related problems, and future prospects of electricity in the Arab world.
In its third and last day, the conference discussed a number of topics including the prospects for green hydrogen in the energy mix and its future in the Arab world, energy storage issues and its impact on this industry, electricity interconnection between Arab countries and foreign countries, as well as the role of human resources in the energy sector and ways to enhance its efficiency.
The second day of the conference discussed the importance of the common Arab electricity market as a necessity of Arab energy integration, the stages of transition to a competitive Arab market for energy exchange between Arab countries and the pillars upon which this market is based, in addition to its proposed legislative, legal and regulatory frameworks.
Presentations were also made on the current reality of three electricity interconnection networks, namely the GCC network and the Maghreb network, in addition to the "Project 8" interconnection between Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and a number of other countries. The speakers reviewed the importance of electricity interconnection among all Arab networks, whether in emergency situations, or for its economic benefit for all states parties.
The first day of the conference discussed the current reality and future prospects of electricity systems in the Arab world, and issues related to new and renewable energies and their integration with the energy mix in the Arab electrical systems.
The 14th session of the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity, which was held on the same day, discussed the developments of the two agreements of the Arab common market for electricity, the rules for operating Arab networks, the pilot project for the functions of the Arab common market for electricity and the regional pricing mechanism.
The 7th General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity was organized by the Arab Union of Electricity in cooperation with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) and QatarEnergy, with the participation of Arab ministerial delegations headed by Their Excellencies Arab Ministers of Electricity and Energy.
The 3rd International Conference on Smart Grid and Renewable Energy (SGRE 2022) was held in conjunction with the conference, amidst a large local and international presence. (QNA)
