AA exhibition opens at SGK headquarters

ANKARA (A.A) - September 27, 2011 - "Being Human in Somalia", the photograph exhibition of Turkey's leading news provider Anadolu Agency (AA), has opened at the Social Security Agency (SGK) Headquarters in Turkish capital.
Fifty photographs taken by seven AA photo-journalists in Somalia reflecting the tragedy of humanity in Somalia have been on display at the main subway station in Ankara.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Acting Chairman of SGK Fatih Acar said, "each institution in Turkey tried to contribute to the aid campaign for Somalia. Our personnel donated some $32.5 thousand dollars. AA has fulfilled a very important duty to this end."
AA Deputy Director-General Ahmet Tek said that the exhibition included photos taken by AA photo-journalists Ecvet Atik, Riza Ozel, Firat Yurdakul, Kayhan Ozer, Tolga Adanali, Mehmet Kaman and Umut Ozgan.
"We thank SGK for hosting our exhibition. Here, we are under the roof of the Social Security Agency. But people in these photos cannot meet even the most fundamental human values. We witnessed it. And we want to share our experience with our people. Because these heartbreaking pictures mobilize our people to help Somalia. These people are in urgent need of water, food and shelter. When you see these photographs, you will understand how meaningful Turkey's aid campaign is," he said.
"AA which was established 91 years ago, gives significant messages to the world. We believe that these photographs are the windows opening to Somalia," Tek added.
The exhibition will remain open till October 3.
Then, the parliament building will host the exhibition as of October 4.
The exhibition will later open in Istanbul and in the western province of Izmir.
