Abish Kekilbayev is an honorary professor of Kazakh National University
Almaty, December 22, 2009 (Khabar) - People’s writer of Kazakhstan, the public figure Abish Kekilbayev has received the title of honorary Ppofessor of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In 1962, he graduated from the philology faculty. He says at that time he could not imagine he will become a popular writer, whose works will be read by the readers around the world. His novels and poems were translated into 14 languages and Abish Kekilbayev is included in the list of 100 most widely read writers of the 20th century.
Abish Kekilbayev is a people’s writer, translator, public figure, the Hero of Labor, State Prize winner. His talent is diverse and limitless, his creations are immortal. He recently celebrated his 70th anniversary. Today he became an honorary professor of the Kazakh National University. Interestingly, while still being a student, Abish Kekilbayev drew the attention of Mukhtar Auezov, master of the Kazakh literature.
Kanseit Abdezuly, professor, dean of philology faculty of Kazakh National University:
- He was the closest and beloved disciple of Mukhtar Auezov. His advantage is that he listened to lectures of Auezov for five years. Auezov himself drew attention to his talent, invited him and gave the topic for researching. Abish Kekilbayev led a student literary club named after Auezov in Kazakh State University.
Now Abish Kekilbayev is Senate and earlier he worked as Secretary of State, Majilis deputy. He wrote that people should not be indifferent and inactive, because it constitutes a crime. Therefore he will never sit idle.
Garifolla Yessim, Senate deputy:
- He wonderfully combines socially useful activity and writer’s work. Therefore, his writing style is splashed around in the political public life in the same way. This I have repeatedly noticed. That is, he works without distortion.
Senator Garifolla Yessim believes it is necessary to reissue novels by Abish Kekilbayev in order the young readers could fully explore his works. According to participants,of the conference, it is gratifying that today his stories, short stories and poems are included in the curriculum of the Kazakh literature.
