Acting Deputy Chief of US Mission: Our Strong Presence at DIMDEX 2022 Is Reflective of Deep Qatar-US Partnership

Doha, March 21 (QNA) - HE Acting Deputy Chief of the US Mission Michael Schreuder praised the strong and deep relations between the State of Qatar and the United States, noting that the US strong presence at the 7th edition of Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2022) is reflective of the deep and diverse Qatar-US defense partnership that spans decades. In remarks upon inaugurating the US pavilion at DIMDEX 2022, Schreuder expressed pleasure with the active presence of the American exhibitors and their presentation of an integrated pavilion. He noted that the closeness of the US-Qatar relations was on full display last summer during the evacuation of Afghanistan, when Qatar stepped up to help evacuate tens of thousands of people, adding that Qatar's support has been unwavering to this day, and the United States is very appreciative. "When the Amir was hosted by President Biden on January 31 at the White House, Qatar was designated as a Major Non-NATO Ally. This announcement both reaffirmed the special US-Qatar alliance and set the stage for continued strategic partnership for years to come," Schreuder said. He noted that the US and Qatar marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and it is fitting that DIMDEX take place on the heels of this important bilateral milestone.
