Ahlia University discusses research cooperation

Manama, Feb. 7(BNA): A tripartite meeting was held between Ahlia University, the British Council and British Embassy in Abu Dhabi to discuss ways of enhancing scientific research between Bahrain and the United Kingdom. Professor Manoor Al-Aali, President of Ahlia University the British Council and the British Embassy Abu Dhabi had a dialogue on the importance of maintaining an academic relationship with the UK. Suzanne Jones, Economy Programme Director of The British Embassy Abu Dhabi emphasised her introduction by stating that the UK have had a good relationship with the Gulf for years. She added that the UK has branches of universities all over the Gulf, such as Heriot-Watt University in Dubai and University College London in Qatar. The British Council was thankful for the years of collaboration with Ahlia University and wishes to continue such relationship and to continue its researches together to create an environment of innovation. Ms. Suzanne Jones also mentioned that the UK funds around 445 researches and she assured that Ahlia University have been greatly involved in these type of research collaborations. They also mentioned that these type of studies started off with a small number in the gulf but with the help of Ahlia University taking part in many programs offered by the UK, the numbers went up Dr. Mansoor Al Aali assured that Ahlia University is interested in further studies and to have a collaboration research with British Universities. Dr. Mansoor Al Aali continued by saying that we believe and the crown prince believes it is better to collaborate with top universities help our researches and maintaining quality programs. He also mentioned that Ahlia University aims at creating an innovation centre at the new upcoming campus which will increase more innovated researches. Ahlia University also aims at supporting new unique programs that are beneficial in increasing job opportunities in Bahrain. All the delegates at the meeting agreed that Ahlia University is moving in the right direction with its programs, collaborations and the new campus. Dr. Mansoor Al Aali concluded that pure education such as a classroom and books is just a branch of education, education is more than that.
