Ahmadinejad Condoles With Tajik President, Nation On Death Of Tajik Writer

Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday condoled the Tajik President, nation and government and all other Persian-speaking nations on the death of maestro Mohammad Jan Shakouri, an outstanding Tajik man of letter and writer. President Ahmadinejad said in a message to Tajik President Imamali Rahman that "his death grieved me and the Iranian nation." Ahmadinejad referred to the maestro’s indefatigable endeavors in culture and prayed to God to bestow mercy upon his soul. Mohammad Jan Shakouri was a prominent Tajik intellectual and one of the notable Persian literary figures of 20th century. Among his main works is a Tajik-Persian dictionary. He also had a significant role in preserving Tajik identity./end
