Air Race 1 World Cup, ASEAN International Fleet Review set this week
BANGKOK, Nov 13 (TNA) -- The government is hosting the Air Race 1 World Cup Thailand 2017 and the ASEAN International Fleet Review this week and hopes to generate 3 billion baht worth of tourism-related income from the events.
Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the government and the private sector would organise the international air race at U-Tapao airport in Rayong province from Nov 17 to 19. Sixteen airplanes will join the final round of the race that will happen for the first time in Thailand and Asia.
It is expected to attract 100,000 spectators from 100 participating countries. The people will consist 70,000 Thais and 30,000 foreigners and about 3.45 billion baht should be circulated during the events.
According to Lt Gen Sansern, the ASEAN International Fleet Review is set in Pattaya City and nearby provinces on Nov 13-22, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The government spokesman said the events show that the government is promoting sport tourism to boost national income. It is targeting world-class sports events and high-income spectators. It selects world-renowned locations as the venues for such events. (END)
