Al-Ahram Cultural Festival opens Today

(BNA): Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the Al-Ahram Cultural Festival opens today at the University of Bahrain. Egypt’s Al-Ahram group is organizing the three-day festival in cooperation with the Ministry of Information Affairs under the theme “Egypt and Bahrain ..Two civilizations and one common destiny”. Information Affairs Minister, Bahrain Institute of Political Development (BIPD) Board of Trustees’ Chairman Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi welcomed the participation of an elite of Egyptian an Arab media, cultural, intellectual, legal and diplomatic personalities in the fraternal festival. “The festival has lined up political forums, intellectual, literary and artistic events reflecting deep-rooted historic and fraternal ties, which prospered further under the leadership of HM the King and Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi”, he said. The festival, which opens today and runs until Thursday (Oct9-11) features an exhibition showcasing 5000 books, a fine art expo exhibiting thirty artworks, a microfilm archives expo showcasing Al-Ahram coverage of Bahrain, in addition to a poetry recital by Jamal Bakheet. The festival also features a string of political and intellectual forums which highlight the importance of culture and media in unifying Arab media and strategic and security vision to combat terrorism and the necessity of renewing religious discourse in confronting extremist ideologies. Visits will be organized to Bahrain’s main national tourism milestones.
