Al Ayam Book Fair initiative praised

Manama, Dec. 27 (BNA): Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi said Al Ayam Book Fair 2018 was the plausible national initiative of Al Ayam Printing and Publishing House aimed to promote the culture of reading, literature and intellect in the local and region’s societies. The Bahraini society has shown keen interest in these important cultural events, Al Romaihi told Bahrain News agency (BNA), adding that the book fair’s sustainability over 25 years is indicative of its tremendous success and proof of Al Ayam Corporation’s accepting the challenge. He added that the hypothetical lifetime of such exhibitions is relatively short in view of the many challenges posed by the shift to advanced digital technology. Al Ayam establishment proved the opposite of this view as it succeeded by virtue of its keenness to pass the culture of books to the young and next generations. Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi praised the annual book fair which reflects the importance of the book in the Kingdom despite the diversity of sources of knowledge, so the book fair stays as the basic and important step in spreading culture and finding information. He noted the importance of the book attested by the showcasing of numerous titles in all areas of knowledge. He pointed out that the book fair deserves all praise and appreciation thanks to the efforts exerted in terms of good preparation and its attracting tens of publishing houses from around the world. Dr. Al Nuaimi said the Ministry of Education attaches great importance to the book in the process of development and capacity building for students both in the schools and the Learning Resources Centres managed by the ministry throughout the Kingdom’s governorates. The Minister of Education said that visiting Al Ayam Book Fair, a student will find all the latest books, stressing that the book besides the electronic systems constitute the basic source of knowledge.
