Al-Azhar Grand Imam meets Tatarstan President

Manama, Nov. 3 (BNA): Al-Azhar Grand Imam, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, received at his residence, received Tatarstan President and Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision Russia-Islamic World, Rustam Minnikhano, currently on visit to the Kingdom to take part in the Bahrain Dialogue Forum: East and West for Human Coexistence. Dr. El-Tayeb hailed backed efforts to promote dialogue, tolerance and peace and build bridges with countries and institutions in the world,stressing the importance of "Dialogue between East and West" in raising awareness, understanding and fraternity for a better future for the world and for future generations. President Minnikhano hailed Dr. El-Tayeb’s efforts, noting that Tatarstan celebrates this year the 1,000th anniversary of the spread of the Islamic religion within the country. She pointed out that Al-Azhar and its scholars have played a major role in the spread of the Islamic religion in the Republic of Tatarstan.
