Al-Azhar Grand Imam receives Archbishop of Constantinople

Manama, Nov.3 (BNA): Al-Azhar Grand Imam, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, received at his residence, His Holiness Bartholomew I, Ecumenical Patriarch, Archbishop of Constantinople. Dr. El-Tayeb hailed praised the role of religious leaders in promoting interfaith dialogue, stressing support to efforts aimed to achieve global peace and tolerance between people. He pointed out that Al-Azhar's participation in conferences that bring together representatives of religions comes stems from the belief that religion supports people's resilience amid crises and challenges. The Archbishop of Constantinople praised Al-Azhar Grand Imam's efforts to spread the culture of peace, human brotherhood and coexistence with His Holiness Pope Francis.
