Al-Raya Affirms Unlimited Wise Leadership Support to Enhance Capabilities of Qatari Women
Doha, March 17 (QNA) - Al-Raya newspaper affirmed in its editorial Thursday that the great gains made by Qatari women at various levels reflect the unlimited support of the wise leadership, which believes in the necessity of enhancing the possibilities and capabilities of women socially, economically, and politically, to reach senior leadership positions at the local and international levels.
In this regard, the newspaper pointed out that HE Minister of Social Development and Family Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad affirmed from the podium of the UN that the vision of the State of Qatar reflected a special interest in women, through economic and political participation, in order to achieve the commitments of the State to advance her.
Her Excellency indicated that the State of Qatar responded quickly to the challenges faced by women due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) by reducing working hours per week in half, without affecting the usual financial earnings of employees, which ensures that women achieve a balance between the family and private work projects that provide additional sources of income on the one hand and basic business requirements on the other, Al-Raya indicated.
Al-Raya highlighted Qatar's promotion of women's participation in political life, which were represented the high rate of women's representation in the Cabinet, from one to three female ministers, leading important ministries, namely education, social development and health. Qatari women have the right to be proud of their achievements and gains thanks to the equal opportunities provided by the State in terms of care, education and employment, as the modern constitution of the State of Qatar prohibits discrimination against women, the newspaper added.
The paper underlined that the promotion of women's rights at all levels is a fundamental and pivotal pillar in the success of Qatar National Vision 2030, which has given valuable attention to the issue of ensuring their enjoyment of their right to work, enabling them to economic participation, provide decent work, and promote social protection, stressing that Qatar has been at the forefront of womens rights advocates at the local and international levels.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that Qatari women are proud today of the successes they have achieved in diplomatic work and obtaining membership in many organizations, committees and sites in the UN and being chosen by Member States and the Secretary-General of the United Nations to lead international efforts, to follow up on the implementation of international instruments and the development of UN organizations, which day after day confirms the distinguished position of the State of Qatar at the international level.
