Al-Raya Commends Great Role of Hamad Port in Supporting Growth of National Economy

Doha, June 10 (QNA) - In its editorial today, Al-Raya newspaper affirmed that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to its strategic projects as part of its endeavors to bring about a great renaissance in the logistics sector, due to the great attention paid by the wise leadership to this sector as it is the mainstay of most production and service activities. Hamad Port, which constitutes the lifeline and main nerve of the logistical supply sector in the country, and which performs great and solemn tasks that contribute to the comprehensive renaissance witnessed by Qatar at various levels. In this context, Al-Raya noted the visit of HE Minister of Transport Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani to Hamad Port and where they inspected the operational processes at its container terminals and Control Tower, as well as final-stage construction works at the Strategic Food Security Facilities (SFSF) project. The two ministers were briefed by officials from Mwani Qatar and QTerminals on ports strategy and expansions, and the extent to which Hamad Port and SFSF contribute to supporting the national economy. They also inspected final fittings of the Hamad Port Visitor Center. Al-Raya confirmed that Hamad Port has become Qatar's main gateway to trade with the world, and the port continues its role as a major supporter of the diversification and prosperity of the national economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, as one of the most important long-term projects that is a tributary of social, economic, environmental and human development in Qatar. The port not only provides additional capacity, but also offers a new set of capabilities for specific sectors in the maritime transport sector. The newspaper explained that Hamad Port constitutes a new addition to the State of Qatar and support for the national economy, and an advanced leap on the path of renaissance and strengthening the economic and commercial movement of the country in addition to its role in placing Qatar on the map of the maritime transport industry by receiving the largest and biggest ships in the world, providing facilities in procedures, laws and the free economic zone so that there is an integrated system of services that constitutes an attraction factor for giant ships. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by emphasizing that Hamad Port provides huge capabilities to receive all types and sizes of ships, which means that all goods and merchandise will be imported, exported or re-exported available to merchants, especially with the services and facilities provided by Mwani Qatar at suitable fees, economic zones, and warehouses, which reflects the success of the strategy adopted in ensuring the ease of flow and exit of goods and commodities to and from the country, making Qatar a center for trade in the region and the world.
