Al-Raya: New Qatari Interest in Development in Middle East

Doha, May 05 (QNA) - Al-Raya newspaper affirmed in its editorial on Wednesday that the State of Qatar realizes that education is the key to peace, stability and safety, and investing in education is the key that will provide children and youth with the tools they need to be positive members of their society. In this regard, the newspaper noted the Trilateral Contribution Agreement signed by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and the Geneva Institute for Graduate Studies (GI), noting that it gains its significance from the importance of development in the Middle East region, as it is a fundamental pillar of political and economic stability and the well-being of people. The newspaper stated that the agreement aimed to develop and present the Executive Programme on Development Policies and Practices, focusing on the field of international development for the Middle East and North Africa, adding that the importance of this agreement stems from the fact that it is implemented by Qatar Scholarships Program, which was established as an initiative from QFFD to oversee and coordinate Qatar's commitment to the SDGs, specifically in the field of scholarships for students from developing countries. Al-Raya emphasized that Qatar Scholarships Program through this agreement and the many projects it has implemented, inspires change and leaves a permanent imprint on the lives of many peoples, not only in the Middle East region, but also in various countries of the world because it aims to form leaders who are able to contribute to the development of their country; therefore, this trilateral agreement came as a new partnership that will contribute to enhancing the capabilities and outputs of the program. It added that QFFD will continue its efforts and contributions in the field of developing education in the region and the various countries of the world that need support. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the Trilateral Contribution Agreement signed by QFFD with HBKU and the GI was done to achieve a lofty mission that concerns everyone, which is to contribute to building the capabilities of individuals and institutions working in the field of development in the Middle East and North Africa region.
