Al-Raya Praises National Preparations for Shura Elections

Doha, August 30 (QNA) - Qatari daily newspaper Al-Raya praised in its Monday editorial the national preparations for the success of the first Shura Council elections in the State of Qatar, which is currently underway thanks to the concerted efforts of all parties in the country, especially the Ministry of Interior.
The newspaper said that after the resounding success in registering voters and candidates, the preliminary list of candidates will be announced on Monday, provided that submissions of objection and grievance requests will be open as of Tuesday for a period of three days at the Candidates Committee in the Hall of Events at Qatar University from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The candidate has the right to appeal if their candidacy application is rejected, and every voter or candidate in their electoral district has the right to object to the inclusion of a candidate in the list of candidates in the same district, due to the lack of any of the conditions for membership in it, the paper pointed out.
Al-Raya commended the massive turnout of citizens to participate in the electoral process, which confirms that they interacted positively with the messages of the wise leadership on the necessity of moving to the new stage of public work, building a state of institutions and strengthening legislative and oversight work.
After the issuance of laws and decrees organizing the elections of the Shura Council, the electoral headquarters witnessed a large turnout and participation from the people of Qatar for the success of the first legislative elections in the history of Qatar, which reflects the level of awareness by Qatari voters and their keenness to participate in the electoral process in a way that enhances the process of development and modernization in the State of Qatar, Al-Raya noted.
The newspaper affirmed that the wise leadership's keenness to expand popular participation in the elections had a positive resonance with the Qatari people, who dealt positively with the voter and candidate registration processes.
Al-Raya concluded its Monday editorial by saying that Qatar, under the guidance of the wise leadership, continues its development path and investment in people, and the consolidation of the foundations of the state of institutions and the rule of law to advance the country until it occupies a distinguished position in the ranks of developed countries.
