Al-Sharq, Al-Raya Commend Exemplary Cooperation between Qatar, US

Doha, March 20 (QNA) - In their editorials Sunday, Al-Sharq and Al-Raya daily newspapers praised the constructive cooperation and exemplary relations between the State of Qatar and the United States throughout fifty years of fruitful cooperation and solid friendship, which recently entered a new successful chapter of bilateral cooperation, especially after US President Joe Biden has designating Qatar as a major non-NATO ally. The two newspapers stressed that Qatar and the US are strategic allies, and that this is always confirmed by senior officials in the two friendly countries, and is translated on the field by the high-level coordination between the two countries, noting that the political and economic partnership is at its highest level between the two countries, and there is coordination of attitudes towards global issues. In its editorial, Al-Shraq said that Qatari-US relations culminate in a journey of fifty years of fruitful cooperation and solid friendship, which has been elevated to a solid strategic partnership in all sectors: political, economic, security, defense, energy, trade, investment, education, culture and other vital sectors for the peoples of the two countries and for the international peace and security. In this regard, the newspaper said that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani affirmed that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Qatar and the US is a dear occasion for the two countries, as it formed a model for close strategic cooperation in all fields, as well as an opportunity to foresee the future, stressing that the strategic dialogues between the State of Qatar and the United States constituted another milestone in the relations between the two countries and expressed the concept of strong partnership and keenness on joint coordination towards regional and global issues. The paper noted what the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said about the strength and solidity of the relationship and partnership between Qatar and the US, expressing his confidence that the relations will grow more strongly in the coming years. In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that Doha and Washington are preparing for more joint work on strategic issues in light of promising prospects for enhancing cooperation by signing the distinguished Qatar-US strategic dialogue, which has been held annually since its launch in January 2018, underlying that holding the dialogue periodically reflects a firm Qatari-US commitment to strengthening cooperation. The newspaper also underlined that the Qatari-US relations have entered a new phase of solid institutional cooperation in accordance with specific agreements and memoranda of understanding that dedicate the two countries as strategic allies in many areas, the most important of which are the joint efforts in combating terrorism and spreading peace in the world, as well as maintaining the stability of the global energy market, especially as Qatar plays major roles in this field. Qatar and US are working together on more than one level, in order to strengthen the strategic partnership and address common challenges, as the relationship with Washington is deepening, and the fruitful cooperation between Doha and Washington was the catalyst for several successes in supporting international peace and security, the paper added. In conclusion, Al-Raya said that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized in a video message on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations that the events in Afghanistan have played a major role in reinforcing the two countries' partnership, and that Qatar played an indispensable role in the transit of more than 70,000 Americans, legal permanent residents, and Afghans to the United States, and stressed that the two sides continue to work together to address the humanitarian needs of people in Afghanistan.
