Al-Sharq Underlines Qatar's Promising Economic Position

Doha, July 06 (QNA) - Qatari daily Al-Sharq underlined in its editorial Tuesday the great efforts made by the State of Qatar to enhance its economic position and the initiatives it has launched to lead the international business community in the COVID-19 recovery phase, through the implementation of many promising partnerships and successful investments. In this regard, the newspaper referred to the visit of the delegation of the Federal Department of Finance of the Swiss Confederation headed by Finance Minister Ueli Maurer and their meeting with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani yesterday, where they reviewed the existing cooperation relations between the two countries and prospects of enhancing and developing them especially in the fields of investment, finance and economy. The paper stressed that the State of Qatar is keen on launching economic recovery plans in line with its international commitments and pledges to help the global economy recover again, out of its belief that it is the duty of rich countries to support countries that suffer from the pandemic and that the recovery needs to be universal to success. The paper pointed out that few days after the first edition of Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, was held and its success in setting global rules for the international business community's recovery from the pandemic, a series of Qatari economic steps with profound impact came to place the economy on the right track, especially towards giving the private sector and the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) the priority and enhancing the competitiveness of the national product. In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the steps taken by the State of Qatar to enhance its financial and economic position come in line with the steps of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) to expand in promising projects and acquire successful deals in which the State diversifies its investment portfolio and its promising projects for generations.
