Al-Sharq Warns of Escalation of Crisis in Lebanon After Recent Political Developments

Doha, July 16 (QNA) - Al-Sharq newspaper, issued today, warned of the escalation of the crisis in Lebanon, after the political developments witnessed yesterday, and related to the failure of the Lebanese leaders to reach an agreement on the formation of the new government.
The newspaper said in its editorial entitled "The Lebanese Crisis", that Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri's apology for the mission, would further escalate the severe political crisis that has been going on for many months, and deepen the economic crisis that burdened the people and put Lebanon on the brink of collapse and explosion.
The newspaper pointed out that many international and regional parties have made great efforts to help the Lebanese face the challenges and dangers facing their country, especially the protracted political crisis, noting that among these efforts are those undertaken by the State of Qatar, based on its concern for the brotherly Lebanese people.
Al-Sharq pointed out that the State of Qatar expressed at the highest levels its support for the Lebanese Republic to find a way out from the current crisis, and called on all parties to give priority to the national interest to expedite the formation of a new government to face crises and challenges.
Al-Sharq added that the aforementioned Qatari support appeared on more than one occasion, whether through the meeting of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with many Lebanese officials, or the messages of His Highness to his brother, HE the Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, which were carried by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, during his recent visits to Beirut and his meetings with Lebanese leaders.
Al-Sharq stressed that the greatest responsibility is to confront the challenges and expedite the formation of a new government, which falls on the shoulders of the Lebanese leaders, who no longer have more additional time, and then comes the role of the brotherly and friendly countries in standing with them and extending a helping hand to lift Lebanon out of its crises, adding in this regard, that Qatar remains supportive of the Lebanese brothers, without discrimination and without political calculations other than the interest and welfare of the Lebanese people.
