Al-Watan, Al-Raya Highlight PM's Honoring of Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor's Distinguished Engineers
Doha, July 05 (QNA) - In their editorials on Monday, Al-Watan and Al-Raya newspapers highlighted HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani's honoring on Sunday of the engineers of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) who worked to complete Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor project.
The two newspapers stated that honoring distinguished engineers represents a great appreciation for the minds and efforts that contributed to building this exceptional project, which will remain a symbol of the love that the people of Qatar have for the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jabar Al-Sabah.
Al-Watan newspaper said that HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior honored the 24 distinguished male and female engineers for completing the project, praising their efforts in implementing the project according to the approved specifications. The ceremony was held amid precautionary and preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19, the newspaper explained.
The newspaper pointed out in its editorial that the shield of Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor project represented the civilized nature of Qatar and the architectural renaissance it is witnessing, and it also reflects the depth of the strong and historic relations that bind the two countries and people in Qatar and Kuwait.
The newspaper added that Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor is the first road to be called Corridor, given its great importance and unique construction specifications, as it is 25 km long, with a total workload of 37 km, and includes the first suspension bridge in Qatar and the deepest and longest two-way tunnel.
Al-Watan underlined that the Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor is 'Doha's lung', which will contribute significantly to reducing traffic congestion on the Doha Expressway, 22 February Street, as the new road is considered a vital artery and will provide an alternative and parallel road that serves thousands of daily commuters between southern and northern Doha.
Al-Watan concluded by saying that honoring these engineers is a deserved honor for Ashghal, which played a pivotal role in developing roads, drainage networks and infrastructure in different regions of the country, while fully adhering to the best security and safety standards and implementing projects in accordance with the highest quality standards.

The newspaper pointed out that the Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor constitutes an important addition to the road network in Qatar, as it is a strong alternate route to 22 February Street, linking the north and south of Doha, providing a direct connection to Hamad International Airport and reducing traffic time by 70%.
The paper said that the opening of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor coincided with the celebrations of the National Day of the sisterly State of Kuwait, noting that it is the first in Qatar to be called the "Corridor" instead of a road due to its great importance and specifications of its unique construction.
The daily underlined the exceptionality of Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor project which act as a vital artery for Doha, serving thousands of daily commuters between north and south of Doha.
In conclusion, Al-Raya said that the Corridor facilitates access to most of FIFA 2022 World Cup stadiums including Ras Bu Abboud Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Al-Wakrah Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium and Education City Stadium, and integrates with the metro network by connecting with several stations such as Economic Zone, Al Waab, and Al Rayyan Al Qadeem.
