Al-Watan, Al-Sharq Hail Qatari-Somali Brotherly Historical Relations

Doha, March 07 (QNA) - In their editorials Monday, Qatari newspapers Al-Watan and Al-Sharq highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's meeting with HE President of the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, at Sheikh Abdullah Bin Jassim Majlis at the Amiri Diwan on Sunday, during which they reviewed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in various fields, as well as the latest developments in Somalia and a number of regional and international issues of common interest. The newspapers said that the meeting gives strong impetus to the coordination and consultation between the two countries at the highest levels, expands bilateral cooperation between Doha and Mogadishu in various fields, and enhances security, peace and stability efforts in the whole region for the interests of the two brotherly peoples. Al-Watan daily pointed out that HE President of Somalia expressed his thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir for the State of Qatar's efforts and its permanent support for the Somali people, especially in the development and economic fields. The newspaper underlined that HE the Somali President's visit to Doha comes within the framework of the successive visits of Somali senior officials to the country, noting that the ongoing talks between officials in the two brotherly countries reflect the desire to further consolidate the fraternal ties between them, especially since the two sides have a sincere desire and keenness to develop these ties in all fields. Qatar and Somalia, the paper said, have deep historical relations based on mutual respect, common understanding and coordination in regional and international forums, as well as a set of agreements and memoranda of understanding. In conclusion, Al-Watan said that the State of Qatar plays an important role in implementing many vital development, reconstruction and rehabilitation projects in Somalia, such as building roads that extend for tens of kilometers and link the capital, Mogadishu, to several cities in the country, and other vital infrastructure projects, building schools, hospitals, clinics, and homes for the poor, in order to enhance stability, security and peace in Somalia. For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper underlined in its editorial the strong brotherly relations between the State of Qatar and the Federal Republic of Somalia, which are becoming more solid thanks to the keenness of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE the Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. The Qatari daily newspaper noted HH the Amir's meeting with HE President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, during which cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in various fields were reviewed, in addition to the latest developments in Somalia and a number of regional and international issues of common interest. The paper pointed out that HE President of Somalia expressed his thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir for the State of Qatar's efforts and its permanent support for the Somali people, especially in the development and economic fields. Al-Sharq stressed that Doha always stands beside their brothers in Somalia, as the State of Qatar is considered a major partner for Somalia in its fight against terrorism through the Qatari Ministry of Defense's continuous support for the Somali armed forces. The newspaper also highlighted the State of Qatar's vital role in developing infrastructure in Somalia by supporting road construction projects and rehabilitating government institutions, in addition to providing humanitarian support to the Somali brothers by coordination with international partners and United Nations agencies. Al-Sharq concluded by stressing that the meeting of HH the Amir with HE the Somali President constitutes another strong impetus for strengthening coordination and consultation at the highest levels in the two countries, as well as developing relations and expanding bilateral cooperation between Doha and Mogadishu in various fields in addition to enhancing security, peace and stability efforts in the whole region in order to serve the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.
