Al-Watan Calls on International Community to Stop Israeli Attacks and Provocations Against Palestinians

Doha, July 02 (QNA) - Al-Watan newspaper, issued today, called for an end to Israeli attacks on the Palestinians, saying that the clear tools and mechanisms in international law and the Charter of the United Nations would guarantee accountability and justice, and the international community should bear its responsibilities in implementing them. The newspaper pointed out in its editorial entitled "Non-Stop Provocations" that these illegal and inhumane attacks and policies are part of a decades-old systematic pattern of policies that have been formulated to impose a coercive environment on the Palestinians, in grave violation of international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, including policies and measures aimed at changing the character, demographic composition and status of the Holy City of Jerusalem. Al-Watan newspaper confirmed that the Israeli violations have never stopped, and the arrests, demolition, confiscation and Judaization continue as usual, as dozens of settlers stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque from the side of the Mughrabi Gate, amid tight protection from the Israeli occupation police, and carried out a provocative tour. The Israeli police also demolished a shop in Al-Bustan neighborhood of the town of Silwan in East Jerusalem, amid launching tear gas canisters and rubber-coated metal bullets, to disperse the Palestinians who confronted the Israeli forces. To conclude, Al-Watan said that the violent and racist attacks that the Israeli occupation forces and extremist groups of settlers continue to launch against Palestinian civilians in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, are increasing rapidly. Within three months, the occupation forces demolished 72 buildings, displacing 78 Palestinians. At least 218 Palestinian families, comprising 970 individuals, have eviction cases currently pending in Israeli courts, in addition to plans for another massive demolition campaign, issuing hundreds of demolition orders throughout the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
