Al-Watan, The Peninsula Commend Qatar's Active Diplomacy

Doha, March 21 (QNA) - In their editorials Monday, Al-Watan and The Peninsula newspapers hailed the intensive diplomatic activities and the important meetings that Doha is witnessing at various levels. The newspapers said that these diplomatic activities and meetings reflect the essential roles that the State of Qatar has been playing for international peace and security, noting the global confidence enjoyed by the Qatari diplomacy. In this regard, the two newspapers highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's meetings at the Amiri Diwan Office on Sunday with HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Kim Boo-kyum, and HE Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Robert Habeck The papers also praised Doha's extensive relations with various countries of the world and its great eagerness to spread an atmosphere of security and stability in the entire world. Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that HH the Amir met yesterday with HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea and the accompanying delegation on the occasion of their visit to the country. During the meeting, the relations of cooperation between the two countries and aspects of their development, as well as the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest were reviewed, the paper added. The newspaper also pointed out that HH met yesterday with HE Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of the Federal Republic of Germany and his accompanying delegation, on the occasion of his visit to the country. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them in various fields, especially in the field of energy, in addition to the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, the paper said. The Qatari-Korean relations are characterized by strength and development throughout history, as diplomatic relations between the two countries were launched in 1974, and relations since then have seen a lot of political, economic and cultural developments and several mutual visits by the two countries' officials, the paper said, adding that bilateral relations continued to develop at a rapid and regular pace, and were reflected in a number of agreements, memoranda of understanding and strategic cooperation that were signed between the two countries in various fields. Al-Watan newspaper concluded by saying that the Qatari-German relations are also strong and distinguished in all fields, noting the mutual visits between the two sides at the highest levels and the agreements signed between them in various political, economic, investment, cultural, educational, and other vital sectors. The Qatari daily newspaper pointed out that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani met on Sunday morning with HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Kim Boo-kyum, and the accompanying delegation. HH the Amir also met yesterday with HE Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Robert Habeck and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of his visit to the country, the paper added. The newspaper said that before the arrival of all these delegations, Doha bid farewell to officials from Guinea-Bissau, Djibouti and top officials of Shell company. This is along the active and effective diplomatic role of the State of Qatar at the United Nations where HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani chaired the opening session of the first part of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) which was held in New York on Thursday, the paper added. The Qatari daily newspaper stressed that all these meetings and consultations at different diplomatic levels reflect the importance of the diplomatic and political role that Doha plays in resolving regional and international conflicts, and also its important role in stabilizing world economy. In conclusion, The Peninsula said that the State of Qatar's diplomatic role in the latest international developments including the current crisis in Ukraine, and other regional developments and situations in Palestine, Yemen, Afghanistan and Libya, remains essential for bringing peace and enhancing the multiple partnerships with UN institutions over provision of relief and humanitarian aids.
