Al-Watan, The Peninsula: Wise Leadership Believes in Women's Ability, Role, Capabilities

Doha, March 09 (QNA) - In their editorials on Wednesday, Qatari newspapers Al-Watan and The Peninsula emphasized the State of Qatar and the wise leadership's belief in the role of women, in addition to Qatari women's belief in their role and their absolute confidence in their abilities and capabilities in various fields of development. The two newspapers stated that the Qatari experience is characterized by compatibility and integration between the roles that women play in society while preserving their original values and traditions, in addition to the fact that these roles have never been the subject of bargaining and controversy, or a point of tension and conflict. Al-Watan said that the world celebrated International Women's Day (IWD) yesterday, and if we recall this occasion with a lot of appreciation and respect for women, we must also recall with much gratitude the prominent role played by women in Qatar, thanks to the expansion of their participation options and the great interest in the issue of equality. The newspaper also highlighted the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030) and the development strategies associated with it, which expanded the options for women's participation in various fields of development and paid great attention to issues of empowerment, capacity-building and the provision of decent work. The paper drew attention to the Qatari legislative system, which strengthened the status of women and emphasized the values of equality so that women today become partners in decision-making after they assumed leadership positions in various legislative, executive, judicial and diplomatic institutions, and a mainstay in the development witnessed by the country. The newspaper explained that compatibility and integration between the roles women play in society while preserving their original values and traditions, in addition to the fact that these roles have never been the subject of bargaining and controversy, or a point of tension and conflict, is due to the wise leadership's absolute belief in the role of women, in addition to the belief of the Qatari woman herself in her role and her absolute confidence in her abilities and potential in various fields of development. Concluding, Al-Watan newspaper affirmed that Qatari women have made very important achievements, and they have been able to do so because of societys belief in their role, in addition to the high Islamic customs and values that have always treated women as partners of men in work, achievement, and creativity. When we celebrate IWD with the world, we have the right to be proud of what we accomplished until women assumed the appropriate position they deserve; this is not strange to our society, nor is it strange to our religion, which honors women and raises their status, the paper added. In turn, The Peninsula highlighted, in its editorial on Wednesday, the State of Qatar's celebration of International Women's Day, emphasizing womens role in nation building. The paper said that the State of Qatar has been keen on asserting the role of women in society and has been continuously exerting every effort to bring the countrys women folk to the forefront of every sector whether it is education, economy, administration, health and medicine, arts or sports. In order to ensure women are enjoying equal status and opportunities as their men counterparts, the architects of the countrys Permanent Constitution aptly provided enough provisions to prohibit discrimination. Article 35 categorically specifies that people are equal before the law and that there is no discrimination between them on the grounds of gender, origin, language or religion, the Peninsula explained. When speaking about women empowerment in Qatar, HH Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development Sheikha Moza bint Nasser stands tall as a model for every women not only in Qatar, but also in the world at large, the paper pointed out. The country will always be thankful to Her Highness for her role in the education excellence the country is witnessing, as she was instrumental in bringing several international universities of fame to Qatar, in addition to her contributions at the global level through the "Education Above All" initiative, The Peninsula stated. The Peninsula concluded by saying that there are several women who have left their mark in many fields of business, administration, cultural and artistic sectors, in addition to high-ranking government positions. Women also emerged in the academic field, as the number of female students registered in Qatar universities reached 24,807, according to official data in 2019, the newspaper said (QNA)
