Al-Watan Praises Qatar's Humanitarian Roles Through Various Organizations

Doha, August 04 (QNA) - Al-Watan newspaper praised in its editorial on Wednesday the humanitarian roles of the State of Qatar through its various organizations, to provide various types of support in the stricken sites and to provide various types of urgent aid to those affected by natural factors or conflicts. The newspaper referred in this regard to the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force "Lekhwiya", which began two days ago search and rescue operations in the affected sites due to fires in the Turkish state of Antalya. Al-Watan said that the group began its tasks upon its arrival in the Republic of Turkey, under the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, explaining that the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group is qualified and able to deal with crises. That group, which had the highest qualifications, had participated in relief operations in dozens of countries around the world and had provided disaster assistance under the umbrella of the United Nations, through its capabilities to do so, the paper added. The newspaper praised the success of the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force "Lekhwiya" to obtain the 'Heavy' classification, the highest international classifications level after 'Light' and 'Medium', by the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) of the United Nations, to be the 45th team in the world to receive this recognition and officially operates under the umbrella of the United Nations. Al-Watan concluded by saying that the successes achieved by the Qatari search and rescue team in this regard complement Qatar's humanitarian roles through its various organizations, as is the case with the Qatar Charity (QC) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), and thus Qatar's humanitarian roles in search and rescue are complemented in disaster sites, to providing urgent aid to those affected by natural factors or conflicts, to supporting poor countries in health and education through sustainable projects, including the most urgent infrastructure projects.
