Al-Watan: Qatar Committed to Improving Workers' Conditions

Doha, August 15 (QNA) - Al-Watan newspaper affirmed in its editorial on Sunday that improving workers' conditions was and still at the forefront of the State of Qatar's concerns, as it provides them with adequate housing and recreation facilities, in addition to adopting a package of policies and legislative amendments to achieve the goal of decent work for citizens and expatriate employees alike.
The paper noted that this will establish and strengthen balanced and productive working relationships.
The newspaper said that many laws have been issued that will achieve social and family protection for the worker, pointing out that this segment is of great interest.
In this regard, Al-Watan referred to the Expansion of Al Khor Sports Facilities for Workers project, one of the pioneering projects aims at raising the standard of living of the workforce in the country. The project has a capacity of 3,000 workers, and includes 516 apartments, in addition to a hypermarket with an area of 7,962sq m, and a multi-purpose hall with an area of 300sq m, the paper added.
The project also includes all the necessary infrastructure such as a sub-electricity station, internal roads, and all required services such as water, electricity, sewage, irrigation, communications, surveillance cameras, parking lots, and pump rooms with tanks for water, fire and gas, in addition to integrated leisure and sports facilities, the paper said.
In conclusion, Al-Watan underlined that the State of Qatar pays great attention to the workers segment and strives to provide vital and necessary facilities at the highest levels. (QNA)
