Al-Watan Regrets Inability of International Community to Take Firm Stand Against Aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque

Doha, July 19 (QNA) - In its editorial on Monday, Al-Watan newspaper condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Sunday by Israeli occupation forces and their attack on worshipers and those stationed in Al-Qibli prayer hall and the courtyards. It also condemned how the occupation forces forced worshipers to leave the Mosque's courtyard, closed Al-Qibli prayer hall with iron chains and detained a number of worshipers while facilitating hundreds of settlers storming the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque from Al-Mughrabi gate The newspaper expressed its regret that this was done under the watchful eye of the international community, which is still unable to take an firm position to stop the official Israeli decision to establish the temporal division of Al-Aqsa Mosque until it is divided spatially within the process of Israelization and Judaization of Jerusalem. It indicated that this continuous targeting is part of systematic Israeli attempts to replace the political conflict with a religious one, stressing that attempts to change the historical and legal situation in Al-Aqsa Mosque will not pass due to the vigor and steadfastness of the Jerusalemites who defend Jerusalem and its sanctities on behalf of Arab and Islamic nations. This steadfastness needs the support of all peace-loving countries of the world, the newspaper stated, adding that it is necessary to move politically, diplomatically and legally at all levels to demand international protection for Al-Aqsa, Jerusalem and the Jerusalemites, and to mobilize an effective international position. Al-Watan concluded its editorial by saying that storming Al-Aqsa Mosque is an Israeli political decision, which gives dangerous indication about the new Israeli government's orientations that focus on attacking the sanctities, which is a provocation to the feelings of Arabs and Muslims all over the world and an Israeli disregard for all international decisions and calls condemning these incursions.
