Al-Zamili: We Will Boycott The Turkey And Iran Goods If They Continue To Cut Off Water From Iraq

Baghdad / NINA / - The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, confirmed: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reluctant to negotiate with Turkey and Iran regarding Iraq's water quota," vowing to boycott Turkish and Iranian goods if they continue to cut off water from Iraq. Al-Zamili said in a press conference at the Ministry of Water Resources: “Turkey cuts off water from Iraq by 80% and gives it only 20%, while Iran has cut off water from Iraq by 100%, and if Turkey and Iran continue to cut off water from Iraq, we will work in the House of Representatives to boycott their goods." He added, "There is a failure from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding talks with Turkey and Iran regarding Iraq's water quota," noting: "20 billion dollars is the money that Iraq pays to Turkey and Iran in trade exchange, and we will stop this money in the event that water continues to be cut off from Iraq, and we will support factories and establishing projects with these sums. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament continued: "We have come to this situation due to political differences, non-compliance with international agreements regarding water releases, and the absence of government methods to pressure Turkey and Iran for the water quota."/ End
