Algerian Ambassador to Qatar to QNA: Algeria, Qatar Have Solid, Distinguished Historical Relations

Doha, June 25 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the State of Qatar Dr. Mustafa Boutoura asserted the distinguished relations between his country and the State of Qatar. He pointed out that Algiers and Doha are bonded with respectful and solid historical relations characterized by permanent consultation between the two wise leaderships of the two brotherly countries. In his statement to QNA, HE the Ambassador affirmed that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Algeria comes in response to the invitation of HE President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune to attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Mediterranean Games scheduled for June 25. He pointed out that this visit interprets the excellent relations between the leaders of the two countries and will form a new impetus for the already distinguished bilateral relations, as well as being a good occasion to review and exchange views on the most important regional and international issues of common interest. His Excellency said that the visit comes in light of the momentum for the development of bilateral relations. He pointed out that the successful visit of HE President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Qatar in February opened a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries and culminated in the signing of several cooperation agreements between the two countries. He added that these cooperation agreements included a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the feasibility study of the expansion of the Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) company to move to the second stage of the production level, which is expected to raise the plant's production capacity to 4 million tons per year, an agreement to develop cooperation and exchange experiences in the field of higher education, scientific and technological research by signing the second executive program 2022-2025, Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation and exchange of experiences in the family and social development sector, agreement on judicial cooperation in criminal matters, and a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of periodic political consultations between the foreign ministers of the two countries, during which they will consult on issues of common interest. His Excellency pointed out that this visit and the subsequent visits and contacts between officials of the two countries reflected the clear political will of the leadership of the two countries to advance the level of bilateral relations, especially those related to the economic dimension, foremost of which is the promotion of investments and upgrading them to greater levels in line with the valuable capabilities available in the two countries. In his statement to QNA HE Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the State of Qatar, Dr. Mustafa Boutoura said that the visit of a delegation from the Qatari Businessmen Association to Algeria in June, in parallel with the Algiers International Fair - which is the largest annual economic event held in the country - is an achievement added to the previous cooperation between the two countries, represented by the investments of the Algerian Qatari Steel AQS company in the industrial area and Ooredoo group in the communications sector - which achieved great success in Algeria. He pointed out that the value of the investments provided by these two projects amounted to more than USD 2 billion making Qatar the first Arab investor in Algeria. (QNA)
