Ambassador participates in NATO Independent Experts Group meeting

Brussels, Oct. 1 (BNA): The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Brussels, Representative to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Denmark, and Representative to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), Dr. Bahia Jawad Al Jishi, participated in the meeting, which was held virtually at the invitation of the group of independent NATO experts concerned with member-countries of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI). Dr. Jishi affirmed Bahrain's keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation with NATO, reviewing ways to strengthen these relations to broader horizons to achieve common interests. During the meeting, a number of issues of common interest on the regional and international arenas were reviewed, most notably the Kingdom's signing of the declaration supporting peace with the State of Israel, the continued Iranian threats to Bahrain, the region, navigation and energy security. The group was established by NATO Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg, in December 2019, as an expression of NATO's desire to strengthen partnership with the member- countries of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and to create a platform aimed at discussing and enhancing common grounds among NATO members.
