Ambassador to Saudi Arabia hails "Aa’tidal" centre's role in combating extremism

Riyadh, Nov. 13 (BNA): The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Shaikh Hmood bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, visited "At’tidal" Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology here. The Ambassador was greeted by the Secretary-General of the Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology, Dr. Nasser Al Baqmi and a number of seniors from the Centre. The two sides reviewed the global efforts exerted by "Aa’tidal" in combating extremism and the regional and international partnerships that took place during the past period with the aim of cooperation to eliminate extremist ideology. The ambassador and his accompanying delegation were briefed on the mechanism used in "Aa’tidal" to monitor and analyse the extremist ideology, as well as the various visions adopted by the Centre to spread the values of tolerance and coexistence in its global mission aimed at neutralising extremist organisations and limiting their impact and dangers on societies, particularly the different age groups it targets. During the visit, the ambassador shed light on the importance of expanding cooperation in order to confront the great threat posed by extremist ideology. He pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain, like many other countries, has gravely suffered from terrorism and extremism for many years. However, it has been able to overcome this serious challenge thanks to the cooperation and support given by its brotherly countries and strategic partners. The Kingdom of Bahrain is also learning from its experience to combat extremism and violence, and stopping them from achieving their malicious objectives, regaining their strength and eliminating them completely, he added. Shaikh Hmood hailed the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership in combating terrorism and achieving sustainable development in the region, highlighting the contributions of the center in this regard. He invited "Aa’tidal" Center to visit the Kingdom of Bahrain and establish partnerships with the authorities concerned from both the government and private sectors. The Secretary-General of "Aa'tidal" Centre noted that the centre works with its regional and international partners to effectively combat the ideologies and practices of extremism. He added that the center addresses the challenges facing the region and suggests means to face them. Dr. Al-Baqmi added that the messages of the center are based on accurate data and modern technology, adding that they not only address combating extremism, but also promote the values of tolerance, coexistence and peace.
