Anadolu Agency celebrating 91st anniversary of its foundation
ANKARA (A.A) - Turkey's leading news provider Anadolu Agency (AA) is celebrating the 91st anniversary of its foundation.
AA employees and board members, led by the agency's Director General Hilmi Bengi, paid a visit to Ataturk's mausoleum Anitkabir to mark the anniversary on Wednesday.
AA delegation laid a wreath at the mausoleum and observed a minute of silence.
Signing the special register of Anitkabir, Bengi wrote that Ataturk had assigned Anadolu Agency 91 years ago with the duty to inform the public accurately and transfer its news stories to the farthest places in the fastest way.
Bengi said the agency had been trying to fulfill such duty in the best way since then.
"Now, our goal is to make Turkey's voice heard all around the world. We have the power, will and determination to achieve that," he wrote.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan released messages on the occasion of AA's foundation anniversary as well.
In his message, Gul said that he believed Anadolu Agency, which had made a remarkable contribution to the development of the Turkish media thanks to its history, experience, advanced technology and journalism ethics, would celebrate much more glorious anniversaries in the future.
Gul said AA had always been a leading institution and a reliable source of news.
Prime Minister Erdogan said in his message that AA, which had managed to succeed despite very limited resources in the past, kept improving itself in line with technology and proceeded towards becoming one of the major news agencies in the world with its objective and reliable journalistic approach.
Anadolu Agency, established on April 6, 1920 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, is the biggest news agency of Turkey and one of the prominent wire services of the world.

AA's news stories cover a large spectrum from politics to health, parliament news to economy, culture and arts to sports, and science & technology to education.
AA has also been exchanging news stories with more than 80 national and international agencies and is the primary and most important news source of press and media organizations in Turkey.
