Manama, Apr. 23 (BNA): The 27th edition of the Annual Bahrain Heritage Festival will be launched under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Wednesday near the Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh Fort in Riffa. The festival highlights various features from the past that shaped Bahrain’s culture and reflected the sheer depth of its civilization and human heritage. This year's festival, which runs until May 3, focuses on "Arabian Horses" in a special venue whose location and surrounding environment provide the perfect setting to get to know one of the defining elements of Bahrain's rich heritage. The festival, organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), will include facets of the local cultural heritage including folklore shows, workshops and handicraft. The annual Heritage Festival features exhibitions that highlight the originality of Arabian horses in Bahrain, such as the "Horse and Rider" exhibition that includes a variety of equipment related to horses and riders, as well as photos that focus on royal horses and a collection of horse paintings and manuscripts from the Bahrain National Museum. Folklore songs and shows will be staged by troupes and lectures delivered by Bahraini intellectuals. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch artisans specialized in horse and cavalry crafts actively engaged in their work and they will be able to purchase some of their products. The popular market will offer local products that include incense and coffee while cafés will provide popular traditional dishes and drinks prepared on the site.
