Arab League Secretary-General arrives in Bahrain

Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit has arrived in Bahrain to attend the 36th session of Arab Women Committee of Arab League, and the preparatory meeting for the 61st session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women to be chaired by Bahrain under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King also President of the Supreme Council for women (SCW). Aboul-Gheit and the accompanying delegation were received upon arrival at Bahrain International Airport by SCW Deputy President Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al Khalifa and Secretary-General Hala Al-ansari who conveyed greetings of the SCW President. Arab ministers, high-level officials and regional and international organisations in charge of women's affairs will participate in the meetings. The 36th session of Arab Women Committee will discuss several topics, including empowerment and advancement of Arab women, sustainable development for Arab women 2030, as well as women, security, peace, counterterrorism, promoting economic empowerment, Arab women participating in political field, addressing violence against women and regional and international cooperation in the field of promoting empowerment of women.
