Army chief not worried over confrontation between proponents and opponents of Charter change

BANGKOK, February 27 (TNA) - Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha said Monday that he is not worried over reports on a possible confrontation between proponents and opponents of constitutional amendments, expressing his confidence in law enforcements. General Prayuth told reporters that as long as the proponents and opponents of the Charter amendments act in according with the laws, he is not worried, acknowledging that the constitutional amendments are part of a democratic process and all Thai people can involve and participate. The Thai army chief's remarks came after the Thai Parliament passed the first reading of three Charter amendment drafts last Friday, leading to the reports that supporters of the yellow-clad People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), who oppose to any Charter change, plan to soon stage a new round of street rallies to show their protest.
