Army chief urges all parties to follow Thai King's advices

BANGKOK, February 27 (TNA) - Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has urged all parties to follow His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s guidances and advices on water management to prevent and solve the country's flood problems. Speaking on behalf of the Royal Thai Army, following an audience granted by His Majesty the King to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and other government representatives at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital last Friday, General Prayuth said Monday that all recommendations of His Majesty the King were based on His Majesty’s extensive experiences. Thus, the government and all other relevant parties should fully follow the revered Thai monarch's advices to overcome flood-related problems in the country. The army commander-in-chief vowed that the Thai military is ready to provide full support for the government, like other public agencies, in flood prevention, including reforestation and canal drainage, by May, in time for this year's rainy season. In response to Premier Yingluck's report on progress of her government's rehabilitation and water management plans for preventing repeated inundations, in the wake of the country's flooding crisis late last year, during the audience on February 24, His Majesty the King advised systematic control of water levels at dams and reservoirs, covering appropriate water discharges from the dams and reservoirs, and reforestation to maintain environmental and ecological balances for the sake of sustainable solutions to the country's flooding problems.
