Tehran, IRNA – Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi has underscored that the Army's main mission is to preserve the independence and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The commander-in-chief of the Army made the remarks in a meeting with the Army universities on Monday morning, noting that the Islamic Republic is getting more powerful. Mousavi promoted the students to be prepared for turning into future officers and commanders in order to carry out the crucial mission of maintaining the security and independence of the country. The commander went on to say that history proves that our predecessors were successful in maintaining the independence and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially during the eight-year Holy Defense (the Iraqi imposed war on Iran). The Iranian Army is busy safeguarding Iran's borders round the clock in any conditions concerning aerial, land, and maritime situations, he noted. He also felicitated the Army officers for putting on the clothes of safeguarding the Islamic Republic of Iran's territorial integrity and independence, which is the uniform of being a soldier for the army of Islam.
