Arrest warrants issued for website administrators over rape claim
BANGKOK, Sept 1 (TNA) - Arrest warrants were issued for two British nationals who run Samui Times website for disseminating misinformation about a rape claim on Koh Tao island by a British tourist.
There is no evidence supporting the alleged rape, Thai police report after conducting fact-finding probe to prove the claim. The news website reports the 19-year-old tourist, Isabel Victoria Bakter, was drugged, raped and robbed of her phone, credit cards and Bt3,000 in cash while staying on Koh Tao in June.
Surat Thani police chief Pol Maj-General Apichart Boonsriroj insisted there was no evidence to support the alleged crime after the preliminary investigation and questionings over 200 witnesses.
No one cited by the teenager can confirm the claim and no forensic evidence were found, he said.
Meanwhile, the Immigration Police Bureau has inspected two locations linked to two administrators Samui Times known as Susan and Anthony. But they are nowhere to be found.
Koh Tao Police has prepared to request arrest warrants for the two individuals along with Facebook page CSI LA administrator for violating cybercrime Law.
Police investigators this week have inspected the sites in the claim by the British teen that she was raped on June 26. Thai police have said they welcome any evidence from the teenager and urged her to file a complaint in person with Thai police. (TNA)
