Assembly of People of Kazakhstan

Pavlodar, October 27, 2009 (Khabar) - The People’s Assembly has been in existence for the good of the country. The Institute of Inter-ethnic accord does more than it was designed for as it has turned into the power uniting those naming themselves real patriots of Kazakhstan. The Slavic centre is one of the largest ethnic unions of the Pavlodar region.

Tatyana Kuzina, Slavic Centre chairperson:
- I can say that all centres live following a folk saying: respect your culture and you will respect other nation’s culture too”. If someone has been in the assembly once, he will become a real patriot of Kazakhstan as the assembly teaches us in this way.

All 18 ethic unions in Pavlodar work in one building. Every Pavlodar resident knows where the house of friendship is. This wonderful building was built one year ago to become the so-called visiting card and the pride of local people. Looking back into history, we can learn that many skeptics were against the creation of the assembly. However, today’s assembly can easily prove them wrong. The promotion of inter-ethnic and inter-religious accord, friendship and tolerance is only a small part to that large work being done by this public institution today.

A lot of Kazakhstan’s Germans like to listen to “the song about home” by Lyudmila Klevno. According to Danil Koch, they all feel nostalgia when they hear this music. He immigrated to Germany in 2001 and settled 5 minutes away from Stuttgart. However, Danil Koch says Kazakhstan is his real homeland.

Danil Koch, Peschanoye villager:
- I was longing for my real home. I have lived in Kazakhstan for 50 years and I was not able to change my life. We were constantly thinking of returning home to make our souls calm down. So, we returned and we have no regrets about it.

Vitalina Meshkauskas is a representative of the Vozrozhdeniye association of Germans and visits the Koch family quite often. She helps them make new documents and adapt to a new life. Danil Koch is now an ambulance driver and his wife Nina is a teacher at the local school. Now, the Koch family is waiting for their son to return from Germany.
