Assistance for flood victims in South

BANGKOK, Nov 4 (TNA) -- Officials of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) in the South have been ordered by Army chief Gen Chalermchai Sitthisart to provide prompt assistance to flood victims in the region as heavy rains are devastating several southern provinces, said a spokesman of ISOC. Heavy downpours are hitting several southern provinces and they could cause a rapid flooding including mudslide, causing transportation problems for the southerners, the spokesman said. Gen Chalermchai in his capacity of deputy director of ISOC is concerned about weather in the region and has ordered ISOC officials in the South to make preparations in coping with the possibility of flooding, the spokesman said. ISOC officials in the South are instructed to closely coordinate with government related agencies in solving the problem which might erupt as well as on providing necessary assistance to the affected people, the spokesman added.
