Astana city construction
Astana, December 18, 2009 (Khabar) - Astana is, probably one of the main symbols of the independent Kazakhstan. The new capital which appeared on the map eleven years ago represents the embodiment of human will and aspiration for new accomplishments. The “Kazakh yeli” architectural sculpture complex is one of the symbolic establishments. “Baiterek”, Palace of Peace and Accord, the “Ak Orda” presidential residence – all create an ensemble of the capital’s new center.
Sergei Borodin, member of Nur Otan Party (North Kazakhstan region):
- Our president’s sagacious ideas lie in creating a new capital here in the center of Kazakhstan which would meet all the requirements of a modern city of the world and Astana has become one today. It shows the dynamics of the country. Kazakhstan looks forward to the future together with its capital city.
Construction will remain the key task for the growing capital. It is planned to commission more than one million square metres of housing and build nine schools next year. By the 1st of July 2010, authorities are planning to complete construction of all the housing facilities with shared participation. The city has already drawn 8 billion tenge as part of “Road map” and supplied more than 4 thousand people with jobs. The capital is constructing 9 healthcare facilities and next year it will start the construction of Heat electric generation plant-3, a electricity transmission line and 120 kilometers of utility networks.

- Generating capacities of Astana have to secure the investment attractiveness of the city and also provide us with an opportunity for stable development in the course of the next 20-25 years.
Astana remains to be the country’s largest construction site and it absorbs attention of all Kazakhstani citizens as the place and role of a new and independent Kazakhstan in the world, which depends on the success of the country’s main city and its development.
