Attacked hospital in Thai Far South resumes services
NARATHIWAT, THAILAND, March 14 (TNA) - Cho Ai Rong Hospital in Narathiwat Province in the Thai Far South has resumed their services to the public, after several attacks in the province, including the hospital, on Sunday night.
Following militants’ intrusion into the hospital, Narathiwat's Public Health Chief Dr. Sommai Boonkliang told journalists on Monday morning, after inspecting the scene, that the targeted hospital was operating as usual, but patients seemed to be scared away.
Dr. Sommai said that Thai Public Health Ministry authorities have ordered more tightened security measures there, including the installation of surveillance cameras and an entry ban on motorcyclists in the compound of the hospital.
Dr. Sommai suggested that concerned patients go to nearby Ra-ngae and Rueso Hospitals.
According to the provincial public health chief, staff at Cho Ai Rong Hospital appeared to have good morale, as they received moral support from executives, Narathiwat Governor Sittichai Sakda and Commanding General of the 4th Army Area Command General Prakarn Cholayuth,
who visited the area.
The provincial public health chief stated that only computers and telephones in the hospital’s office were damaged, assessing that more patients should return to Cho Ai Rong Hospital in the coming hours. (TNA)
