Audit Done In Accordance With International Standard: M'sian Auditor-General

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), Feb 9 (Bernama) -- The National Audit Department carries its audit in accordance with international standards without prejudice to any party, Malaysian Auditor-General Ambrin Buang said. The auditors are also competent in carrying out their duties, he said, adding that he was confident of the integrity of the department's report. "We have the standard and we are confident with our findings which are made based on detail scrutiny of facts and documents," he told reporters after the opening of the Asean Supreme Audit Institution (Aseansai) here Thursday. The two-day meeting was opened by Aseansai chairman Dr Hadi Poernomo (third from left) who is Indonesian auditor-general with presence of Brunei's Auditor-General Pangiran Abdul Rahman Pengiran Mat Salleh (third from right) among others. Ambrin (centre) was earlier asked on the 2010 Auditor-General's Report which attracted public attention when it highlighted numerous issues including on National Feedlot Centre project. He said the department adopted a transparent approach by making its report accessible from its website but stressed that the department had no control over how the report was used. "I suggest that the report is read in full so that it is understood. Sometimes even if we have not said anything about certain things, people say we have said so. That, sometimes, causes a problem," he said. On Sabah's financial management in 2010, he said, the state performed better than many other states, pointing out that three agencies -- the Forestry Department, Treasury Department and Papar District Office -- received the excellent four-star rating. "This shows that it's not impossible to achieve four to five stars," he said. Sabah is located at east Malaysia. (photoBERNAMA) MALAYSIA
